Dear Tango Friends,
The 6th Australian International Tango Festival, Tangofest 2010 is just less than 2 weeks away. Starting with a Dinner & Show to mark the launching of Tango In The Vineyards, this Mudgee event is building up with all the media support we have been given by the Mudgee Department of Tourism. People from Central NSW are coming to watch our international Argentine Tango guest dancers perform in a night that they will remember and continue to talk about even after the show. Hopefully this will open up the Tango community and make it grow.
As you would be aware, the Festival continues on in Sydney on the evening of Tuesday March 30 with the Welcome Milonga at the Dance Alive Studio on Regent Street, Chippendale. Several workshops have been closed and some changes made as a result of the success of the Pre-Festival intensive Tango course that is current held at the Lifestyle Studio in Surry Hills conducted by Belen Silva and Diego Gonzalez. We have created 2 “group private” workshops with a maximum of 8 couples. There is no change in the cost of the workshops but you have to be quick if you want to be included in this group. There will be more personalized teaching and the teachers would be able to guide each couple to make sure that they get a good understanding of the lessons. Please look at the new Timetable for the changes that have been made and those who have enrolled in these subjects will be individually contacted.
The Farewell Dinner & Show will be held at the Farsaci Restaurant in Norton Street, Leichhardt. We will be served with 3 types of pasta and garlic bread with a glass or 2 of good wine. All this for only $35 per person. Being a public holiday, we need to get the exact number of people joining us for the dinner by Tuesday the 30th of March.
We have great DJs for this year’s Festival…….Jairo Rivera of Tangueros, Fabian Conca of Tango Conca, Anthony Miller of Tango Spirit, Isao Morimoto and Jean Weiner. All our DJs have great music collections and have offered their free valuable services to the whole Tango community to make our Festival an enjoyable one. Jairo and Amy of Tangueros will also be our MCs throughout the Festival.
For the new people in the tango scene, your school have something to offer you so you can enjoy and be part of the Festival. Ask your teachers for this special offer.
Don’t forget to send in your registrations as some classes have been closed.
Happy dancing!
Lilian
